My foots on the gas,
Pushing it all the way down,
As my mind races along an empty road.
I can feel my heartbeat in my ears,
Too hard,
Too fast,
Too loud.
And it gets louder,
As the feeling in my stomach sinks deeper,
Until I think I can feel it in my spine,
Every breath gets shorter,
And the booming in my ears grows,
Like an engine working too hard.
The roar becomes a ringing.
The world becomes a blur.
Trees and grass and sky,
Running together,
Then fading away.
I’m out of control.
Slamming down on the break pedal.
Nothing happens.
